Day 9

Today was combined with a moment of sunshine and warmth in Thessaloniki, then a cloudy warm day in Athens. Our group departed Thessaloniki at 10am and getting to the train station around 10:30am, so we could depart from the station at around 11am. The ride was about 5 hours long, but it held many beautiful views along the way of the countryside. We also took advantage of the time to play a little cards on the way like we had done on the last train ride. After the game was finished most of everyone caught up on some sleep before we head back into Athens. The train pulled up as it all seem to come back and familiarity had struck us.

From the train station we were able to walk to our hotel that he had before during our first trip to Athens. Once we reached the hotel and checked in it felt like being at our second home in Athens. We were able to settle in and get ready for our dinner later on in the afternoon. We went to the Old Athens area where many restaurants and cafes lie through out the alley ways of the city. The restaurant we went to was a nice typical Greek restaurant and it was conveniently accompanied by some live acoustic music. The dishes that we had included some pasta with shrimp, salmon, and even some Mutsaka.
After our dinner was finished we ended up at a galletto shop for some delicious desert. Once everyone finished their desert, we headed back on the metro to head to the hotel to get some rest. It was a nice, but bittersweet night as our Greek friend Christos had spent the last night with us in Athens, A friend of Doctor Dalpour's, Professor at a university in Turkey, and father was nice enough to help us navigate throughout Greece and spend time away form his family to share our adventure with us, Our group was very grateful for his help and presence throughout the trip, we wish him the best and hope to see him very soon. Ευχαριστώ πολύ Christos!
