Favorite Day

For me, the choice of a favorite memory or site was hard, there is just so much to choose from. However, I think in deciding, day 6 stuck out to me as not only the half way point of our trip, but something so amazing and that hit home. This day was truly spectacular, for more info, see the post of day 6 called "Exploring Religion in Greece." Anyways, this day started with a visit to St. Friday Chapel community which was a beautiful little church in the woods traversed by a river. After this, we went and climbed some elevation with the capstone of the day. We visited Meteora which houses 6 monasteries, less active than their original state. We visited one of these which was the second highest upon the rock formation as well as a convent which was accessed by a bride. I truly loved this day, especially seeing the difference between the native Greek Orthodox religion here and the Roman Catholic back home in Maine. It was overall a wonderful day with nice weather, good food, great people, and of course wonderful history and sites. - Joe Haggerty
